Anybody live in or near Guntersville? I am considering retiring down there. It was recommended by another forum user and, so far, is looking real good. Just looking for anyone that lives there, or, near there I can ask a couple of questions to.

Ask away. Guntersville is close to Huntsville (~30-45 minutes).

Guntersville Alabama
How is the apartment situation in Guntersville and the surrounding area? I plan on retiring next year and getting a one bedroom apartment. Maybe $600 a month. Obviously not on the lake. At this point I am looking for quiet, getting my NRA instructor cert. and do some instructing, and, get more involved with my church.

$600 per month might be a little low; it's not a big town and there aren't that many units. Maybe one of the local realtors could chime in with more information. The 'surrounding area' is lake and farmland. You could also look at Albertville and Scottsboro. Also, you'll need a car.

I'm Eastern Orthodox and there are two churches. Both in Huntsville. One of the first things I looked at since we are so small. ;-)

If you want to be about halfway between church and lake, you might consider the Huntsville neighborhood of Hampton Cove, but your budget might be low.

Budget
It probably is low for that area. I am not picky at all about where I end up. Just gotta be quiet and relatively safe with nature around. The closer I get to retirement I will most likely put out the call for a realtor for more specific info.
