Well, the four miles or so of the Zierdt Rd widening project has been going on for 10 years and is still less than half finished. So they may be the ideal contractor for the job ....

The groundbreaking for the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA plant in Limestone County will take place on Nov. 16 – an event that’s expected to include more than just speeches from politicians and the ceremonial tossing of dirt with golden spades.
The groundbreaking is expected to be a day full of activities and celebration and private invitations have already been sent out ahead of the public announcement of the date, which is planned to occur in the next few days.
The plant, perhaps the largest single economic development project in state history, is unique in that it brings two large Japanese auto makers together on the same campus. It’s also Mazda’s first manufacturing foray on American soil.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Madison city will be holding a meeting to discuss whether or not to provide a $150K incentive to Mazda to locate their North American HQ in Madison City throughout the duration of the plant build? That would be money well spent IMO for more than a couple of reasons!

Ha! Very true. Probably too bad it can't be contracted out to Tennessee DOT. On a side note, can you recommend some things to do in the area? Picking my sailor son (Go USS George Washington!) up at Hartsfield-Jackson in ATL on 12/15 and the whole family is rolling into Huntsville that day late afternoon. I'm still trying to sell the wife on moving up there so I want to show her the best side of the area that I can. We have been up once and took my daughter to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and will go back this time to take the son. We will be in the area the 15th-18th and leaving on the 19th. I know to check the calendar of events but is there anything someone living in the area would know about that we should see? Any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

Well maybe I am mistaken on the NA HQ part (LOL) BUT I am certain they were going to try and do something here. I guess time will tell.

It would certainly be worth $150K. I've heard the incentives for the assembly plant were >$300M. But no, I have heard no such rumors.

I think they must've heard about Huntsville's supposed 10-story limit.

Should hear a lot about this tomorrow. It is an invitation only, but may be live streamed

I know its early but has anything been posted with respect to the type and quantities of labor categories and pay ranges for those categories? What is the projected build up/timeline of employment and staffing after plant construction completes?
