We moved to Madison for the schools, after living in Cape Canaveral, FL for so long we wanted a school system that was about education not testing to death and we were going to do everything we could to get here. The traffic is horrible and now that our kids are out of school, were thinking about getting out. We do love it here but this area is the car wrecks city

Agree. It's not so bad. Sure, there are times during the day when there's some gridlock and it's a pita then, but just plan around those times or take a little longer to get where you're going. It's like that in any population center.

Madison traffic definitely isn't horrible. Yes, there are are "rush hours" going to schools in the morning and coming home from work in the afternoon. Welcome to most decent sized cities.

I've lived in 4 states and 5 different cities and the local drivers are always considered the worst drivers in the world!

Many drivers in the Huntsvillle area forget all about courtesy (they always seem to want to be first), and many also seem to think that signals for turns and lane changes are just decorative. In fact, I fully believe that dealers in Morgan and Limestone Counties disconnect the turn signals before selling a car .... You rarely see a 52 or 44 tag signaling a lane change.

Try some BHM, BNA or ATL suburbs and come back to let us know just how horrible traffic is here.

We recently moved here from Southern California, and I can testify that the traffic here is not "horrible." I guess it's all what you're used to. Overall, we love Madison, but it's a little scary teaching my 15 year old to drive here because of the narrow roads. I think it was actually easier to teach the older one to drive on the LA County roads and freeways. Still, I wouldn't trade it!
