Default "Lexingtons at Madison" and other nearby apartments in Madison

Hello. This is really a follow-up thread to my original thread on moving to the area: Another "considering moving to the Huntsville area" thread -- sorry if this link looks weird, the url code doesn't seem to work as intended on IE7.

Based on some of the info in other forum threads and some online research, does anyone have any comments regarding the "The Lexingtons at Madison" complex or other apartment complexes on Royal Drive such as Windscape?

One of the prime reasons for considering this area is proximity to a possible place of work (Intergraph).

Thanks in advance for any feedback/input.

Sincerely,
Ron

How much are you wanting to spend a month on an apartment? I had a friend that stayed there and those apartments are fairly new want to say maybe even less than five years old. My final choice for apartments in Huntsville did come down to the Lexingtons and Mountain View which is further down madison boulevard off of Shelton I picked Mountain View because they offered me a "preferred company discount" The Lexingtons are newer and nicer though but also more pricey and I think they went up even more on their prices recently. I know Mountain View is around 600 or so for a 2 bedroom so lower 500ish for a one bedroom so expect similiar prices but just a little higher for the Lexingtons. I paid about 535 +25 for water(570) a month at Mountain View and its only about a 5-7 min drive to Integraph and no more than 10 minutes to huntsville's core shopping area of University drive and BridgeStreet very convenient. On a sad note though my building recently burned down, I dont know what caused the fire though, It was a very nice quiet place with very friendly neighbors. Also even nicer apartments in the area are down on Madison Boulevard are Colonial Grand at Edgewater and Colonial Grand off of Hughes. I suspect both colonial grands are gonna run at least 700 for a one bedroom though. MountainView would probably add only a couple min more drive to your commute to work I suggest considering it too but Lexingtons are nicer if you want to pay more, but I'm not what their openings are looking like with the fire and all.

Thanks Huntsville_secede! I'll have to check Mountain View out. According to Mapquest it would still be a 5 minute commute although I always take those times quoted with a grain of salt due to real-world traffic.

How did the recent fire affect the complex in general?

Ideally I figure my rent budget to be in the $500-600 range.

Does anyone else have any comments/recommendations? Thanks again in advance.

The fire destroyed a the whole G building of the apartment complex, I'm not sure if the residents of those buildings were moved to other open units or what and if they are plan on immediately rebuilding it.
