I found a few listings for the Clearwater subdivision in Owens Cross Roads and was thinking that living on a waterski lake would be preferable to living on a golf course, to me anyway. Does anyone know anything about it? Where is it in relation to Hampton Cove? Any flooding or other issues you know about? Thanks.

Hampton Cove is about one mile NE of Sutton Road and Highway 431.

Clearwater is about 4 miles south of Hampton Cove, approx a 10 min drive. From the maps I have, it does not look like it is in a flood zone. The only way to know for sure would be to go to the County office and find out by looking at the books.

If you are on Sutton you can turn on Taylor Rd ( the road behind Wal-Mart ) and follow it down until it turns into Terry Drake Rd., then the subdivision would be on your right.

Clearwater is a very nice community. I have sold in the area and none required flood insurance. Your realtor would be able to confirm that based on a specific address. There can be a couple of lots in a community that may be in a 100 year zone when none of the others are. None of the current listings in Clearwater specified in the facts that flood insurance was required. What I discovered when I moved to that area almost 5 years ago was that people in general refer to the Hampton Cove area as that general area, in the HC school district. Hampton Cove itself is on the other side of 431, they have their own association, Hampton House, fishing ponds, etc... However Clearwater also goes to HCE (for now, the new elementary school will be right across the street from Clearwater), has an association of their own, has a pool and clubhouse, etc... I don't think you would be disappointed.

Thanks folks. Hopefully we will be able to start househunting in earnest soon, since we finally got our PCS orders to move. I am really looking forward to living in the Huntsville area.

Default Clearwater

I live in Clearwater and have been there for 6 years. My daughter and I are tournament water skiers and we love it. Even for the non skiers it is a very social neighborhood and we know all our neighbors. A Friday night beer at the firepit is a norm. A work of caution. Their are only 20 memberships to the lake. Just because you back up the the lake does not mean you can use it so check and see if the homes has a membership.
