Thanks.

Houston in May is like Huntsville in August.
Also, it's possible to escape it here based on your home choice. Some people live on Monte Sano or Green Mountain for that very reason. In the summer it's about 7 degrees cooler on the mountain tops, average.

That is good news to me! Yep, in May it is bad, and then it gets worse.. If it is just bad in Aug, you can handle it for a month or two. Thank you.

I also came up here from FL and I don't think the humidity is as bad here, although I live higher up than H'ville there is often a breeze at higher elevation in the summer. It does get hot but usually not until 3 or 4 in the PM. In FL you would be sweating just walking from your car to the office in the AM.

I came from Central Georgia where I lived for 20 years, although I grew up in Jacksonville FL. I can definitely say that HSV is WAY cooler than Georgia. And no gnats!!!

No no-see-ums but we have larger gnats here in my area...can't use the deck during the summer in the evenings because of the bugs buzzing and biting.

Cockleburrs.
And the tiny things that bite you when you're walking through a field collecting cockleburrs? Chiggers.
