Dogpatch--Hmmmm....could be. Guess I'm showing my age, but I'm not familiar with Lil' Abner. Looked it up on Wikepedia and I would've been five when it ended. Clamoore, bet you're right.

Well let me tell you - there's PLENTY of dogpatch right here in southern New Jersey! I'm sure you've heard of the 'pineys'. They'd fit right in in certain areas down there with their confederate flags and all! LOL! bUT WHY 'HuntsVEGAS?'

Are there any public computer places in HSV? Like the public library? I'll be in HSV this weekend and my laptop is on the fritz. I just need somewhere to plug in my thumbnail drive and do a bit of work on a few Word files, and maybe send an email or two.

Hmmmm....I'm thinking....

I wouldn't recommend the Public Library in downtown HSV. Too many indigent/homeless types hang on those computers and it's pretty creepy.

Maybe try the Madison Public Library (branch of HSV). They are only open until 5pm on the weekend.

I used to work at a downtown branch public library. I know all about that! One time we caught a homeless guy washing his socks in the bathroom sink...and other things. Had a coked out drag queen run through the library muttering incoherencies. Oh the stories I could tell you.

Madison sounds like a good option, since I'll be lodging there. Will there be enough good maps of HSV and Madison at the airport or where can I find those? My flight gets in tomorrow morning...

Do you mean maps where you can find the library? There are directions in the link I gave and I tried to cut/paste but I cannot. Look about halfway down on the webpage to find directions to Madison PL.

Don't know if there will be good maps at the airport (I have never asked for map of HSV there LOL) but I'd imagine there would be one available at the Car Rental counter. Lots of times the front desk at the hotel will have an area map. AAA on South Memorial Parkway (about 15-20 minutes from the airport, however) would have maps but they close at 2pm on Saturday, I believe. Oh, yes. You could probably find a map at WalMart or a convenience store on Hwy 20. You'll turn right onto Hwy 20 coming out of the airport and WalMart and convenience stores will appear about 1-2 miles down on your left.

I just mean maps to navigate. When I went to Louisville it was easy to find maps: they have visitor's centers etc and tons of city maps, street maps, etc. BTW the food thread was very helpful and I'm glad to know there is a place that offers falaffel etc. I love the stuff!

The visitor's center on Church St downtown has a free map that is good enough to get around here with. It has tourist related stuff pointed out. They also have lots of discount coupons for the local tourist stuff: Space and Rocket Center, museums, Burritt on the Mountain, Botanical Garden...

Your hotel might have a business center where they have a computer printer/copier/fax for their guests for free.Look at your hotel's website or call them.
