Less than Alaska, I am guessing..
I moved here from FL and living here is heaven to me, especially this time of year. No A/C..

Ok... Now if that is true that is something I didnt know... I have been told to EXPECT THE WORST and prepare for even worse then that when it comes to the humidity here in this part of Alabama...
So that is somthing that I have been dreading horridly... Physosamadicly.. YES you betcha...!!!
If this upper portion is not a fact.. then by all means it will make it so much easier to attempt to deal with the health effects we are having at this point... as it wont get a whole lot worse for us then... but if in fact it will be a LOT WORSE with humidity then I have to say .. it will be a total HELL on earth for me and my kids asthma wise for certian.
I hope that it wont be bad that way with the humidity..
You may have given me hope...

LOL
I will trade you Mobile humidity for that you will have.
I really do not even notice the humidity that much, but I grew up 70 miles from the coast back home.
I have had bad sinus problems, have had surgery and now have some problems, but nothing like before. I do not focus on the humidity and do not notice problems if any I may be having with my sinuses. When I cut the grass, then I get all stuffed up.

I checked City-data Huntsville vs Anchorage as far as humidity. Huntsville is slightly higher during the summer months. Mobile OTOH stays high all year long..sorry Kevin.
Huntsville, Alabama (AL) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders
Anchorage, Alaska (AK) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders

You and your kids have allergy issues but you have a number of animals. We take care of our cat. So can estimate vet and food costs. Times five? But you are imprisoned because you have no transportation. How did you handle this in AK?

Huntsville humidity is so much lower than any of these places.

It may simply be that compared to where SnowFlower is from, Huntsville seems quite humid, and that when you're feeling horrid physically, EVERYTHING feels worse.

SnowFlower,
I am sorry to hear about your health problems. We have friends who used to live in downtown Madison and suffered terrible allergies. From what I am told, the Native American believed the valley here in Huntsville is an allergy pit -- meaning the surrounding mountains prevents all the pollen and smog from escaping the lower valley. It keeps all the allergens and sickness in the lower valley.
Our friend now live on a mountain bluff across the Tennessee river in Morgan county. Ever since they moved from the valley and on top of a mountain all their allergies disappeared. They have been allergy free for 6 years plus years. Additionally, you'll find rent and house prices 1/3 cheaper in Morgan county.
Also concerning honey. Pasteurized honey loses all its healing properties. Only 'local' organic non-pasteurized honey will benefit your allegies.

You would have to be talking about the Brindlee Mountain area? Most parts of Morgan County are just as bad for allergies as Huntsville... really worse, because we have more agricultural area.
Snowflower, maybe your husband would compromise and carpool a couple of days a week. That would allow you to get the kids out for some schooling-related activities. There is plenty to do close by that is free (Monte Sano State Park!), and it would give you all a break from the house.

Yes, I was referring to the Brindlee Mountains. Our friends live on top of the Brindlee Mountain, just off Telephone tower road. We actually own property at the bottom of the Brindlee mountain and love the air quality. I do not see too much agriculture in this area -- most land owners are cattle farmers. Land is selling between 5k - 8k an acre. We bought ours for less two years ago but the prices are still low. I don't think I would be able to find a better deal in Madison county. I am only 11 miles from the river and its only a 35 min commute to the arsenal. Were renting in Madison county now but I am hoping once I move onto my property, the bridge and southern bypass will be completed. If so, I am guessing I can knock off another 10 mins off my commute.
We home school too, so we don't have to fall into the trap of paying top dollar to live in Madison county; besides there are good school in Morgan county too. I just heard Arab has some of the best schools in the state.

Pollen was bad for a couple of weeks or so this year in Arab. My white car was a light yellow. Much better now with the rain.
