So they're considering building in NoAL in Decatur as well as off of S.Memorial Pkway and all of this is based on numbers regarding BRAC. I just don't know. It's an Election year, many people won't move now, and when I go to the grocery store here in Hville, I cut open an artery to pay the bill. I see no differenc in Cost of living as far as that is concerned.
Not much leftover for fancey shops and dining out.

And don't forget the billion dollar development in Madison, as well as Harris Hills out east. Yeah the big difference in cost of living comes from housing and property taxes. When I go to BridgeStreet I still see most of the stores empty, now the restaurants excluding Ketchup and Dolce are doing quite but those seem to always do well in Huntsville which is what I expected because I really don't think of people in Huntsville as being into high fashion which is what a lot of the stores in BridgeStreet are.

Ketchup was not worth the dollars--the fries were cool and so were the neat little ketchups but the meatloaf at 18 dollars was a total rip off. Why go there when there is a reasonably priced, good tasting food Red Robin with bottomless pit fries just down the street? And if I want Italian, I'll go to TerraNovas before I spend the top dollar amounts at Dolce. Sheesh. The stores are good: expensive ones have good sales right now and then the normal stores like Ann Taylor Loft and New York and Co are good to shop all the time. But really, the big numbers they are anticipating from BRAC and MDA just aren't there--especially now.

So if they are breaking ground in Madison, is that going to benefit Madison City's tax base for the infrastructure?

I'm no economist, but I wouldn't invest a penny into anything till after the elections. The tens of thousands of millionaires who people seem to think are coming, just are not. Its time to wake up, past time actually. There are plenty of places to shop and dine in the area, lets give some of them a chance to get up and running instead of adding more we don't need!! Just my opinion.

Yes, this will be an addition to the Madison tax base, if it happens. I am somewhat skeptical right now, but it definitely looks like there are people working hard to make it happen.

Yeah, I agree that there is enough up and trying to run, but I am concerned that my moola is going to support schools in Madison County, Hville and so on and not Madison City Schools.
Who get Bridge Street money and the Madison Mall money?
Great that the developers want to give Madison a tax base, but I just don't see it happening till after Elections--and believe me, BRAC/MDA--I don't see a millionaire amongst us...

Here is a pdf that shows all of the Huntsville Development. Basically, anything that is on here is not in Madison. It is also very easy to see how much Huntsville has surrounded Madison from an annexation standpoint. There are about 1800 yards between the annexations off Powell Road and those just North of Brownsferry Road. Once that is closed in, there is a complete circle around Madison.
Pay particular attention to the shading.
Shaded in Grey: Huntsville
Identified Developments / Colors: Huntsville
City of Madison is white with no detail
