Okay--I am trying to understand how the schools in Madison City are funded. Is it just with tax revenue from the stores you listed? Does any of the money I spend in the other places (which will happen because of necessity) go to us? How much does the State kick in for our little district? And property taxes? Does that go to Madison directly or to the state or the county? There's a meet and greet with Finley on Tuesdays--I guess I'll go there to ask some of these questions as well.

Thanks for the info BKOTH97!!

Looks like the development off of county line road would support Madison--why wait for the Hville stuff to kick in if none of it feeds our area? May as well build and then we can all spend our money there if the right stores are attracted. Those would be very good questions to ask the mayoral and district candidates!

It looks like Huntsville wants to swallow Madison -- is that bc Madison seceded to gain autonomy? Maybe I should just shop for stuff in Bham LOL or Nashville or --- we could start a mini tax protest JK .

Any rate I think I will ask the Mayoral and district candidates what they propose to do to fix this issue.

Default New Development off of County Line Road

Well I feel a little bit more educated after going to the meet and greet the candidate on Tuesday. Turns out 4% of the tax money is spent per pupil in Madison when I spend outside city limits. So that was good to know. I'd hate to give up my Target habit.

If I have my druthers, I'd love to see the county line road development work out. I'd love to see a Target, a Costco, and a movie theater come in a little closer to home. In my dreams, I'd love a Trader Joe's.

I got the feeling that the candidate I spoke with understands that upper end retail isn't what will support the new development. But that the stores we discussed will do that.

I like the fact that the County Line Develpment is off of 565 and super accessible to a large base of people outside of the Madison City limits. It could be a central solution for people from Athens, Decatur and West Hville along with city of Madison.

What else would work? If you are living in Madison now, what would you like to see happening?

Of course, this all depends on how the election turns out--not to mention the national economy and the global impact upon it.
