The Tennessee Valley Ceramic Arts Guild opened recently in Madison at Miller Plaza on Old Madison Pike. They are now offering classes to the public. Their website ( Tennessee Valley Ceramic Arts Guild - Home) is still under construction but has some contact information. They also offer studio hours, unlike the Huntsville Art Museum.

I am sorry but pots are illegal here, thereby the making of pots are also illegal. If you go to Walmarts, Home Depot/ Lowes, you'll see that they don't sell pots here. We specifically buy house in neighborhoods where they don't have pots, or make pots.....
Oh, you meant the clay types.... okay... nevermind !

Ahhhh....OK.
Decatur also has a place: The Artist Within, 409 Bank St. N.E., 309-8068 (no Web site, evidently).

Awesome! I am going to check them out. I only knew of Pottery by You, but that may be limited to painting.

Athens State University has several pottery classes, and while some are part of a degree-granting program, there are also some that are for the general public. Either way, you would probably enjoy the classes.

Check with the owner of 'Pottery by You'. I think she opened a pottery class off of Old Madison Pike.

Picked up a copy of the Hsv Museum of Art's summer classes brochure yesterday at the library.
They list different art classes &workshops for 3yr olds to adults.
There are 3 types of ceramics classes for adults: wheel throwing $125, mold making $50, plate ware art&design $120. Class dates June thru September. Discounts for museum members.
More details at hsvmuseum.org or 256-535-4350 ext. 222
