Default Crime in Guntersville

The crime rate listed for Guntersville on this website is very high. Can anyone please explain. It seems so out of place when you research the area. Is it misleading? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is a big difference in the actual population of the city and the population of the police jurisdiction.

The City of Guntersville has a population of 8,743 within its city limits and a population of about 39,000 within the jurisdiction, which covers about 55% of rural Marshall County, Al.

If you compare the crime against a comparable population such as Gadsden, you can see the numbers percentages would be much lower.

Default thanks

Thanks Keeper, that explains a lot. Obviously, it's skewing the city numbers. By all accounts, Guntersville seems like an awesome place to retire.

I think it is a very nice town. I was there today. If you like the water or fishing, you will be in hog heaven. There is a nice little downtown, with some shops around the courthouse. There are senior activities and lots of volunteer opportunities.

We have a poster SammieS who retired there from Long Island. You can do an advanced search for her username to pull up her posts on the area.

If you tell us what you are looking for, I am sure we can help..

Default Crime in Guntersville

It is an awesome place to live and also to retire.

As Keeper noted, we moved here from Long Island last September and really love it here. Everyone is so nice and welcoming.

If there is any information I can help you with, just PM me or ask away on this forum.
