North of Blevens Gap. It is the mountain the Ledges community is built on.

Thanks ! Very interesting. I guess the "mountains" in McMullen Cove are not named as far as I could see.

I did a quick search on terraserver and google maps topo and I didn't see a name for the set of mountains but the mountain on the west side of mc is called High Point, it is the mountain east of Drake Mountain. The mountain east of Mc may be called sublett point; I got that from google earth. Sublett is the family who owned all the land around there; Mr sublett died in the past year. I spoke with his sister in law about six months ago.
It may be the extreme southwest end of a mountain range part of which are the smoky mountains....not sure....

Thanks Charles. I think you may be right about High Mtn. No matter name or not, we love those mountains that belong to our neighborhood. They are absolutely beautiful. Have seen many rare wildflowers on them as we hike them frequently. They are the reason we bought here and no regrets to see them daily.

Charles is correct - between High Point and US72 is Sublett Point. Both of these "points" are part of Drake Mountain, and McMullen Cove is in between. South of Gurley and visible from HC and MC is Keel Mountain.
Information comes from here:

Now if you really want to see something cool, and I mean really cool, check out the University of Alabama's historical aerial photographs:
Aerial Photography of Madison County
For example, here is the aerial for Drake Mountain in 1942
Drake Mountain 1942
The bad news is, the photos are arranged in alphabetical order by geographic names - a lot of hit and miss - no master mosaic map or anything like that.
The good news is, the photo is zoomable.
