We know that the FBI has established operations in Redstone but very little information is posted on this forum. I found this article below

With Shelby’s announcement of additional funding for the FBI and the totality of investment for the bureau at Redstone eclipsing $2.48 billion, it’s a project that now exceeds the $2.3 billion invested in Mazda Toyota Manufacturing in Huntsville.

At his presentation, Dimos said the FBI projects to have 5,200 employees at Redstone Arsenal by 2028 with capacity for another 2,500 people annually for training. As of December 2021, Dimos said the FBI had about 1,218 employees in Huntsville. The FBI also plans to open five new facilities on the Army base by October.
At 5,200 employees that would be equivalent to the number of civil servants NASA has at Redstone I believe.

NASA has fewer than 2500 civil servants at Marshall now. At one time in the mid-1960s that number was around 7500. Now, there are a lot of on-site contractors.

Thanks for the correction.

At this rate, I think FBI maybe bigger than NASA's presence at Redstone.

The contractors are a HUGE portion of the workforce now. Probably the main employers.

If you have access to the Arsenal, you should drive out and see the new FBI facilities that have been built and are being built. They even have employee parking garages.

FBI

I have been to the NASA auto garage that is basically across the street. The FBI facility is quite imposing.

The Madison County building permits are running at a record pace. Imagine what they'd be if the federal buildings on the Arsenal were included in the total (presumably the commercial buildings at Redstone Gateway are included, however).

How much is traffic down since March 2020? Has it affected NASA more since some might still be working from home?

Traffic is down a lot. I've not been on the Arsenal in about 3 or 4 weeks, but the NASA parking lots were virtually empty then except for Space Station ops and perhaps some south in the test areas. There are more on the Army side but not near full capacity. I think some of them are working a couple of days in the office and a couple from home. Presumably those dealing with classified work have to be in a secure area. Don't know about the FBI boys.

When everybody goes back to work, the traffic increase will be quite noticeable.
