But the ails of society also impact private schools Christian or otherwise. So, in the end, it's not so much where kids go to school, but what happens at home.
I'm afraid people misunderstand the term "real world." If you think students in private schools are sheltered from the "real world," you are mistaken. They live in the same world, watch the same TV, listen to the same media, read the same books, go to the same malls, breathe the same air......Get the point. And, from a Christian point of view: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world, for the world passes away, but those who do the will of God abide forever." The "real world" I want my children to cherish is not the "real world" some people mean when they use that humanist buzz word. Let's be careful about what we mean by "the real world." I'm afraid there's a real danger in using the excuse not to shelter children from the "real world." I am reading the words of the Apostle Paul, giving advice to Christians: "I would have you to be wise concerning that which is good, but simple {innocent, unlearned} concerning that which is evil." Christian parents are never commanded to expose their children to ungodliness just so they can say their kids experience what some call "the real world." Just the opposite.

Not sure what that comment is about. Our kids have attended Hampton Cove Christian Academy for 2 years and we've been really pleased with the faculty and staff.

I will agree that here in Huntsville there is a strong Christian component to the local culture. Although I grew up in the South, I was gone for 15 years and was surprised by how ubiquitous Christianity is here when we moved to Huntsville a couple years ago. That said, you may be quite comfortable with the public schools. Visit greatschools [dot] net for details on private school options. Most private schools in Huntsville/Madison are religiously affiliated. Our kids are at Hampton Cove Christian Academy and we've been really pleased with the loving environment and challenging academics.

Since old threads are being resurrected, thought I'd add my two cents worth...

Many, if not most private school administrators, boards, etc., aren't really in favor of a voucher system. This is chiefly because of the fear that if the gubment gets involved in giving people money to go to schools, then the gubment is going to want to get involved in the business of the school to which it's money is going. Given our government's history, this is a legitimate concern, IMO.

What many are in favor of is a tax break for tuition spent at private schools. Almost the same effect and should keep the government out of private schools any further than they already are.
