Pediatrician (Huntsville, Madison, Morris: school, living, legal)

Hi

We are new here and we are looking for a pediatrician for our daughter. We are moving to Hampton Cove. I have called one practice and they told me they are only taking newborns. We have a 4 year old. I was told by an RN at an Acute Care clinic that many Pediatric practices are not taking new patients. Can anyone recommend a Ped who is taking new patients?

Cornerstone Pediatric in Madison is taking new patients, I believe. They are absolutely Awesome. They are moving into a new building (they outgrew the old one). Both of my kids have been with them since birth. I believe they have 6 or 7 pediatricians now.

Quite a drive for you, but I know they have people from Limestone and Morgan Counties that drive in because they are so good at what they do.

We lived in HC and used Dr.Horton at Twickenham Pediatrics. Not sure if they are taking new patients but they are great. We now live on the western side of Madison and still drive to Hsv to see him.

We use Field Pediatrics in Huntsville. Off Airport Rd near Crestwood Hospital. Husband and wife team of Scott and Susan Field. Less than 30 minute drive from Madison, Hsvl, or Monrovia. We did try a couple of doctors in Madison, but their offices only accepted new children as newborns.

And for Dentist, try Alabama Pediatric Dental Assoc. Offices in Madison and Huntsville.

Thanks for the information. I was given a hard copy of all the peditricians in Huntsville from the acute care clinic. I might start calling the ones closest to where we will be living first and then call the Fields and Cornerstone.

Charles are you still moving here? You will need to get your children their Alabama blue card before they can enroll in school. I did get one at an Acute Care Clinic since I do not have a Ped. yet. They advised me to get a Ped. and that is when they gave me the list of all the Peds. in the area.


Southeastern,It is good to know there are still a few Peds. that are taking new patients. Why are Peds. not taking new patients?

Typically, they have a pediatrician to patient ratio that they don't go over. If the ratio is 1:100 and they have 7 Pediatricians and 700 patients, they will stop taking new people in.

Yes, and actually we're on the phone with Sirva this very second. We're also looking hard at Hampton Cove.

We had used HSV Pediatrics, but their office staff is HORRENDOUSLY rude and refused to forward my children's medical records when we moved--despite having received no fewer than four signed release forms. They did their dead-level best to screw up my older son's school registration, but when I threatened legal action (and made it clear I was ready to back up the threat) they suddenly found it convenient to send the records.

I am now waiting to hear from Dr. Field's office and HSV Pediatrics if they will take new patients. If not I heard great things about Cornerstone.
