Madison City Docs & Hair Stylists
Hi All:
We head to Madison tomorrow and we're ready to be HOME. Now we need advice from anyone living in Madison regarding Doctors/GPs and Ob/Gyn as well as a good, reasonable stylist. We also need a good dentist, young and up to date. Reasonable hair stylist cost wise that is good with, ahem, color and highlights would be nice as well.
My main goal is to to minimize drive time. After living in FX County and hauling all over hill and dale for 9 years to get to the various professionals and schools and ex-curricular activities, I'd love to cut that out as much as possible. We're going to be off of Balch Road, near 72.
Thanks!

I hate to suggest my hairdresser because I have a hard enough time getting in with her but I'd say anyone at Mirror Image is great. I know many of them there. My hairdresser has been doing my hair for over 10 years. She is very reasonable and I assume they are all pretty much the same price wise (there). Mirror Image is near Madison Square Mall and Sam's Warehouse.
Drs: We see Dr. Irma DeLeon at Crestwood for general stuff. She is an internist and I really like her. She seems very knowledgable. I would not suggest my ob/gyn. I am thinking about leaving. I have heard good things about Clinic for Women.
Dentist: We see Doug Booth. Love him! He's very nice. We see his hygenist, Vicki.

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure where or how to post my question and this at least touches on the issue. Can anyone advise me on commuting distance and quality of homes in Athens, AL? The local hospital is recruiting and I will be covering this area in the coming weeks.
My husband is an established orthopaedic surgeon and I have formerly been a nurse, an office manager, and, believe it or not, a dress shop owner. Since hubby has been a doctor for thirty plus years (there may be snow on the roof but there's fire in the stove , a home where young families abound is not terribly important (although kiddy filled neighborhoods are kind of neat... esp. Halloween time).
Heaps of praise upon you all! I have been a city-data enthusiast for quite some time (mostly lurking, though) and the Northern AL crowd has been A-list on the Internet. Thank you a million times. Charles: you rock are rocky world. So much info. It's like wanting a drink and picking up a fire hose! And Reactionary: I'm probably one hundred and eighty degrees from you politically but your measured and informed responses are a pleasure to read.
Keep up the great work!!!

Athens is about 15 minutes from our neighborhood in Madison. There is supposed to be a new hospital built just off 72/University (money and politics are holding it back to my understanding). I bet you won't have much of a drive commute wise.
And you are right about Charles and Reactionary: spot on!

For hair, Kathy or Sonjia at Salon Sorella on Slaughter. (256) 325-1236(Others there are probably good too.) My whole family goes there and they're great. On google maps:

For GP and DDS, I go into Huntsville. We use Pediatric Associates for kids and love everyone there.
