This has been a very interesting thread - thank you everyone, I've enjoyed reading it. I'm in northern Virginia now, and I regularly go to Fair Oaks Mall, Dulles Mall, and Tysons Corner Mall. At first upon reading about this curfew I was blown away thinking it a terrible idea. Hell, I spent many of my own dates as a teen wandering the mall with my girlfriend. Through the course of the discussion, I think I can see a situation that could develop if the wrong teens (especially in large groups) begin to abuse the mall that might make such a curfew a good idea.

The malls I go to here have no such problem - but I have heard of the trouble with springfield mall. I wonder what it is that causes this to develop in one area, but not another?

I'm still on the fence, but I can see the rationale at least. 5pm seems too early however.

Those are the malls we frequented as well--no problem at all. I think the curfew is 6pm for Bridges (I posted it earlier). And during the week there isn't one--but mine doesn't have time to trek malls during the week at night. She's busy dancing, acting and doing homework or hanging out at home. LOL
