I don't worry about sales tax....I shop (really) at G and W Clothiers and House of SA Clothiers
Goodwill Industries International - Shop
The Salvation Army: Thrift Stores
Seriously, you want to make your kids happy and teach them about money? Give them $5 and let them run around one of these thrift shops and let them buy anything they want. It's a novel birthday party idea too.

K-I did the whole shopping thing by default today--seriously--did I save money? Not sure. But I do believe that I've worked toward singlehandedly saving the economy during this move LOL--BTW--that whole GW/SA thing works well till the girls get older. They'll babysit--they'll go where they want--they will -- and it will be okay as long as they know about saving, planning and more--
A little designer is okay too--

I saved $10 dance shoes/apparel for my two girls. Yes, tap and ballet shoes and leotards are covered! If I had purchased all my school supplies this weekend I could have probably saved another $10. (Though I don't regret buying those supplies earlier - we have a teacher-meet-and-greet today to drop off supplies, and I wouldn't have enjoyed running around last minute with the crowds worrying that I wouldn't be able to find everything on the list.

Time is money--we don't get our supply list till Wed.--welcome to HS! I'll be in those lines AGAIN with a bunch of other moms/dads/guardians fighting for what's left of the supplies.
I was wondering--where did you get the leotards/shoes? My daughter needs new everything (yikes! talk about a money drain) due to her feet growing again. Her dance studio will have fittings on the 13th but might want to compare prices beforehand.
Thx ZennJenn

We bought our ballet shoes/tap/ leotard/and tights at Blooms. 820 Regal Drive Huntsville 256-533-2623. They have a combo pack for tap/ ballet/ tights/ and leotard for 49.95. Not sure how much I saved.Maybe $25.00 with this package. The salesgals were great. They were very patient with my 4 year old. They seemed to have a big selection and know what I should get for my 4 year old. Our daughter's ballet school gave us their information.
I forgot about no sales tax days. On Friday I went to the Park Place mall, I think that is the name, at 10:00. I got a front spot. went straight to Stride Rite. The sales gal helped us right away. within minutes there was a long waiting list to be seen by a sales gals. The store was packed by 10:30. I probably save $8 dollars in sales tax. I guess I was one step ahead of the rush. Were the stores overly crowded this entire weekend? Friday morning I did see lots of kids with moms at the mall. By 11:30 the parking lot was packed.

I went out also, only bought stuff that was at least 50% off. JCPenney had a Doorbuster sale so I got fall clothes 50% off, plus an additional 10% before 1PM and then no sales tax. I was pleasantly surprised when all of the books I got for myself at Books A Million were tax free, plus 10% off. I thought it would apply to text books, notebooks, etc...but it was all of them.

Yup, Bloom is where we shop too. It's always a real treat for my girls to go there.
