I eat out too much, but anyway...ate at the Red Robin in Jones Valley tonight and I would never go back. I had been to the one at Bridgestreet and enjoyed it. Not Jones Valley, the food was okay but the waiter was rude, never checked on us, never brought my "never ending fries", never cleared anything from the table and just seemed like he had no reason to live! Also the bathrooms were gross! Dirty and no TP. Will not go back...ever.

Isn't it amazing how cleanliness and service make a difference between going back or not to a restaurant in the same chain? or any restaurant. We also had a bad experience with service at Cheeburger Cheeburger, but the food was good so we will try again.

The thing is, for me, I am a cook--and I make good food. Going out for a meal, especially dinner, means that good service is a part of the experience.

That's why our experience at Luciano's was so special: our waiter was part of the package and gave us a wealth of local lore as well as good service.

Ate Login's last night. Still my favorite chain steak house/road house. They have largest variety of food and reasonable prices.

Yes, and as a country boy I feel more comfortable stepping on peanuts in the floor than some fancy smancy upper crust over priced joint.

Yeah--well I can grill em better too--a person can almost buy the entire tenderloin and trim it oneself for the cost of a single filet without any sides at a fancy smancy joint. It's not hard to do either...

If I pay over $25 for a meal, I want something super special and the service had better be amazing. If I pay over $35 for a meal (and I have on rare occasions), I want all that plus linens on the table.

Weird.. from my experiences I usually get better service in Jones Valley than on the WestSide maybe you just had a bad waiter. Maybe they have fallen off a little bit though since the one in Bridgestreet opened, as they used to get a lot more business.

A friend of mine was just yesterday telling me about the terrible customer service that she got at the Party City in Jones Valley. Not just the general workers, but the store manager as well.

Just dug up this thread to find some recommendations. I definitely have a list of places to try now.

A lot of the favorites mentioned here are some of our favorites also - Surin, Sitar, Connor's, Tony's, Ol' Heidelburg, Jazz Factory, etc.

I love Rosie's too, but I don't really consider it Mexican. El Dorado on Weatherly Rd. is the best Mexican I've been to here. Several have mentioned Casa Blanca, but I didn't care for the Casa Blanca on Bailey Cove at all - are they all the same?

I ♥ Sushi
is great.

I have friends who are rabid Tim's Cajun Kitchen fans, but I thought it was only OK. I do like the atmosphere (or lack thereof) and beer selection.

Can anyone recommend a Vietnamese place?

FCEddie is on a distinguished road
Haven't posted here in a while.

1) Po-Boy Factory: I'm from New Orleans and eating here is like going home.

2) Tacoria on Drake & Triana - its just a truck in a garage, but its damn good.

3) Tortora's Pizza - one of my favorites in the country.

4) Landry's - Had a nice dinner there, I'll go back.

5) Five Guys - my favorite burgers, big chain or not.

6) Logan's - I need to try this place. Love ruth's chris (New Orleans connection I guess), but good meat for a great price is something I need to try.

7) Melting Pot: When is this going to open?

8) Tim's Cajun Kitchen - went there a few times early in my move to Hville, but not in a while. Foods good, but not great.

9) Tellini's - I like this place, so inexpensive and pretty good stuff.

10) Big Bob Gibson's - I thought all the BBQ was pretty good till I went to Decatur- AMAZING!!

11) Mellow Mushroom: How long does it take to get it done?

12) German Place - which do you recommend? I've been meaning to go to Ol' Heidelberg, but never make it over there.
