The only place I know of is Viet Huong next to HHGregg on Old Monrovia, across from Madison Square Mall. Pretty good. I've had better Vietnamese in other cities, but I enjoy it overall and the prices are very reasonable.

Well first off Hubby and I are hunting a great meat and three place to eat as well as a middle of the road seafood place that's in-between Captain D's and Red Lobster/Landry's. Those are the two we really have yet to find something that we like. I noted the ones listed on here in a few of the posts, but I wanted to ask myself.

In Bridge Street, we've tried PF Chang's- loved it, no complaints, Cantina Laredo- egh ,okay, not horrible, but have had better Mexican elsewhere, Biscuits and Blues- loved it....sniff, sniff, why did they have to leave, anyone know what happened and Red Robin- loved the atmosphere and the burgers. All the rest we have yet to try but not sure if we will.

Rosies---don't know what all the hype is, just tasted like something I'd find in the freezer section in the way of Mexican dinners....that's the best I can describe it. We ate there once and won't go back.

Oriental places.....Ding How off Whitesburg---the chicken dish I got tasted weird, but my hubby liked it there, Viet Houng--we've ate there once and it was the first time I've tried Vietnamese and we'll go back it was alright, Oriental Express--good for a fast food Chinese, gives large portions

I'm aware there are several German places in town and we've only tried Ol Heidelburg. We were pleased there and have been many times since we've moved here. Are the other places worth trying also?

Beauregard's----Went there once, won't go back, service was awful and we felt the food wasn't anything to write home about.

O'Bryan's Steakhouse---Loved it and the variety there, everything was great and the service was awesome

El Coyote-----we love it and are pretty much regulars there
Casablanca----also somewhere I'd recommend for good Mexican
Phil Sandoval's---Was okay, thought was a little pricier, and prefers the first two to it
Is there any other great Mexican places in town..I'm on a hunt for the best Guacamole

Anything else we haven't tried yet or is on our list. Any other suggestions from locals?

Went to BridgeStreet when I was in Alabama a few weeks ago. I hated PF Chang, the service was horrible. Cantina Loredo was good, but Rosies is better, especially the one in Florence.

And Ketchup was the biggest waste of money.

any more updated?

Melting Pot?
Mellow Mushroom?

I need a Chinese restaurant for Xmas day (Our Christmas Story Tradition), looking for something in Madison if possible (or Athens - but I doubt it exists).

I've never liked Rosie's food, but the restaurants are pretty neat. We have tons of Mexican places in Decatur and several used to be good. But lately it seems NONE have decent food. Maybe they deported all the good chefs??

We LOVE Hildegard's. She makes her bread, soups and desserts all from scratch. Everything is good there. I think it is a gem in town that not many people seem to know about.

Any Filipino places?

I googled and found a few markets here and there that will have what we need, but in most miliary towns there's a family-run Filipino restaurant around.

There's a Vietnamese restaurant in Madison that is also pretty good and authentic, on Madison Blvd in the same mall as the Golden Rule BBQ. I just moved from Orange County, California where I frequented many restaurants in Little Saigon so I know a little bit about good Vietnamese food. I was very pleasantly suprised to find this place. Try their "Pho" (rice noodle soup with choices of beef flank, tripes, etc.), it's good. I am just not used to the local prices yet, $9 here vs. $6 in Little Saigon for the same dish. There's also a Vietnamese grocery store in the same area. I went in there one Wednesday evening afterwork and the place was crowded with Asian women. It's like a happy-hour gathering place for asian wives....
