practice driving license tests huntsville
Hi to everyone
for the people that know me (on the forum) I arrived in HSV on 16-07-2008 from Italy, with my family.
I have got an apartment in Madison, a SSN, a contract for TV cable and internet, a new car but I miss the Alabamian driving license (I've got my national driving license).
I need an information :
Where can I find the practice tests in order to test myself before make the driving license examination?
I tried on the internet to find something but everything seems to be with payment of a fee.
Is there a website that offer these practice tests free of charge or some governement office that is allow to give me these exercises?
Thank you in advance
Ezio

Are you sure you will have to take a test? Try calling and asking if you will have to take the test since you have a national driving license.
Just a thought.. since you don't have to take the test if you have a valid US license

But getting the license is not the same as taking a driver's test/road test. You may be able to do what we all did--just have your SSN/valid birth certificate, and National DL available down at the state office. They give you a vision test and for a fee of $28, you change your license over to an AL license.
I would call and ask if you have to take a road and/or written test to get the AL DL. We all had a time limit on getting the AL DL after we moved here. But none of us had to take a test unless the old license expired.
Of course, good luck getting a real person to talk to when you call. I'd go down to the Courthouse and ask in person if it were me. You'll save yourself the endless aggravation of the constant recorded message loop.

Dear cglover
I am sure that you are right, but I presume that this rule is valid only for US citizens.
In order to be sure of this tomorrow I amgoing to pop up in a driving license office and I will ask more detailed information for a non US citizens.
I'll let you know.

I have a friend who is in Northern VA from the Netherlands--she and her husband both drive here--I will ask her what she had to do to transfer her DL over to the US as well.
Good Luck!

My friend said she also had to do the written and driving test when she came over from the Netherlands. But it must have been easy compared to the dutch system for her--costs huge amount of money to learn to drive there and the test is super hard. My experience here 23 years ago was that it was pretty easy (that was in Tennessee).
I'd go into the yellow pages and find a driving school there--good luck!

If you have a few years of experience driving, and have the 3 months to adjust to driving here before you have to take the test, I think signing up for driving school would be overkill.
The Unites States has fairly relaxed driving standards compared to most of Europe from what I understand. If you read a copy of the Alabama driver's handbook a few times, you will probably be ready to go.
This is the official website and should give you all the information you need to pass the test. Alabama Department of Public Safety
