There is a company called ADS that some friends use. They are well recommended. I think people in Madison should really take a deep breath when it comes to being worried about home invasion. Really, if you check in on the incidents in your Madison, the activity occurred in areas where everyone was at work! If you are at home during the daytime, regularly, the thieves will go elsewhere. I hate to see you becoming so distressed about this. The local paper and television has nothing better to cover than small items. You live in a really nice area. You have lots of other people coming and going during the day. Lock your doors when you are indisposed, get a security system if you can afford it and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Every neighborhood has some crime, but you can defeat it with vigilance and neighborly concern.

Curious as to what other people are paying. Does $20/month sound too good to be true?
Also, besides Brinks and ADT, what other home security companies are there? Our friends mentioned "Huntsville Security" but I couldn't find them; they must have some other name or something.

And a neighborhood watch would help with that tremendously... we aren't being overly concerned... with all the new construction goin on and the resentments, economy being what it is, these types of things aren't going away.
but thanks for telling me not to worry.
one more sleep till i'm able to sleep for real!

People should worry since the economy is tanking, and construction sites tend to attract rascals. Not to mention that Christmas season will be upon us, and due to our consumer society, even the criminals need to provide Christmas presents to their families.
It shouldn't take over your life, but the gift of fear is a gift. And btw, it's a good book, The Gift of Fear. Highly recommended.

I like ADT but be careful and make sure you tell them exactly what you want. We have had issues with our sales rep telling us one thing, the installer telling us another and neither one being right. I do have to say ADT is doing everything in their power to rectify the situation. The only really bad thing is the installation fee which is pretty steep but the month to month coverage, especially if you are a USAA member is very reasonable and also being a USAA member you get quite a few perks.

Our ADT guy just left. He was very good.
We paid no installation because the previous owners had ADT service and equipment. So, that might be something to consider for a new relocating person- find out the previous owners service and possibly save install fee.

No weird crime comments from self serving interests lately. Thank goodness there is actual data for Madison County, and nearby cities on city-data.
You may use this map to view Huntsville annexation between Madison and Monrovia/Harvest (good volunteer fire svcs).
