I got this info from a teacher at Heritage and thought I would pass it along.

I have heard from Investigations: There is an organized burglary ring out of
Decatur. It is comprised of several white and black males and females. They
are targeting high end houses, making Madison a nice hunting ground. I am
giving you some vehicle descriptions to be on the lookout for. Most of these
burglaries are occurring during daytime hours at houses where no one is
home.

2002 Mazda 626, white in color, tag number 34168AV

1985 Chevy S-10 pick up, white, no tag available

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, gold, 52D908Y (same as above)

1999 Buick Regal, green, no tag available

1997 Ford Taurus, Gold, 99807AT

2000 Pontiac Grand Am, Silver, 52B423R

Nissan Altima (no further info available)

Honda Civic, black, (no tag available)

If you see these vehicles in your neighborhoods, call MPD immediately. The
investigators are working with Decatur PD, Morgan County Sheriff's Office,
and Athens PD on these cases.

Two houses in Walden Preserve were robbed on election day--very scary--thanks for the info! We also know of other houses that were robbed close by to us--in one case the witnesses saw the burglars urinate on the homeowners' fences before breaking in! It felt very personal. But this is good info. Any way to DM me the info so I can pass it on to my HOA and my neighbors?

Thanks!

The homeowners were not home--I just copied it and pasted it so you don't have to send it to me in a DM--already forwarded it on to my HOA reps. Wonder if this is drug related??

How did the teacher find this out?

I wish I were any good at vehicle ID. Last night around 7 I saw a dark 4-dr
sedan with 4 ppl prowling our area. Passed me three times while I sat
outside with the boys. They shouldn't have passed the 3rd time, because I
got the tag number: 47V229J

My wife said she saw the same car Wednesday morning when she got up.

This just passed on for Walden Preserve--I'm sending all info to my neighborhood email list and contacting Holbrook from the Madison HOA group as well.

Crazy times!

In Decatur we've had a LOT of burglary action in the last 2 or 3 months. Usually people breaking into houses while the residents are gone, which shows they're watching. A couple of houses up the street from us were broken into and cleaned out a couple of weeks ago.
Sometime last weekend, a crew pulled covers off air conditioning units in a strip mall and yanked out the copper from at least half a dozen units.
Some of it is our resident illegals, but most is a ring or two, highly organized.

Beware, and stay alert out there.

We have two cats the thieves can trip over LOL... but we also have ADT EVERYWHERE. I may post an NRA sticker on the house as well--and a beware of dogs sign just as a deterrent.

I may even learn how to shoot a gun -- and back off of a stance I've held my entire life (much to my TX husband's thrills! He's been trying to turn me into Annie Oakley for years LOL).

I guess in these times we need to reflect upon what we would truly be dealing with and how we would protect ourselves and our families should the unthinkable happen and our nation was attacked on a grander scale.

All of a sudden I start to understand what our forefathers were thinking about when they drew up that constitution.

Oh, my dad is covering his eyes up in heaven now!!

Thanks for this information, I'll pass it along. When our daughter bought her first home, we paid for the installation of her monitored security system as a house warming present and beefed up the locks. I learned at a young age that no neighborhood is safe from crime, no matter how nice.

An inexpensive device that we've used on a couple of house is a battery operated, motion-activated camera. The Intellicorder simply replaces a standard peep hole in a door. It date/time stamps the recordings, which can be very helpful. It paid for itself when I could prove that a delivery was never made after the driver claimed it had and that someone must have stolen the package.
