Well, I get your point, but I really wish the gainful employment would be for a more upscale, fun restaurant that would provide tax revenue in the same manner. I just wish for a better kind of restaurant. Not egocentric... there are TONS of bbq places here. Why do we need one more? Pulease... this isn't about businesses failing. It's about wanting more variety than Italian and BBQ... sheesh...
To be fair, BBQ is the regional cuisine. It's like being in Boston and complaining about the # of seafood places.
At any rate, my guess is it is going to be more of a USA Today type BBQ place - where you feel like you've had BBQ, but not really. The place is going to be run by the Westin where you probably have high end guests from around the world. If you were a local exec and had clients in from across the pond, are you going to take them to the local rib shack? Probably not. This gives them a chance to entertain in a sophisticated atmosphere and give their guests an opportunity to experience "local" cuisine. I'd bet that the target market is the business crowd, not the couple that wants to take in dinner and a movie.
I would agree, though, that a variety would be nice. My wants are simpler though. I'd like something like Marie Callender's or Village Inn, preferably local and not a chain, that sells pies that are something besides lemon ice box, coconut cream, chocolate cream, or pecan.

Bummer. It will be like going to a "gringo" corporate version of a Mexican restaurant in LA which employs a bunch of stoned high school kids to slap some beans and "New York City" picante sauce into a tortilla so the patrons can experience "real Mexican cuisine"
