If you want to be near the water, Guntersville is absolutely gorgeous and not a bad drive to Huntsville. Also, Decatur has a good hospital where a lot of doctors move in this area to, and Decatur is right on the Tennessee River. I've only been here 2 months but we are determined to get a place on the lake. My husband was born & raised in Killen on the lake there and he has fond memories of that. We don't have that kind of budget but there are still great places to be found out there within our price range, so I am sure you could get a quite opulent house for what you quoted.

Default Love, love love Huntsville!

Our visit was incredible. We love Huntsville--what do we like?

First, the terrain is beautiful. The surrounding hills/mountains are breathtaking and the abundance of green space is awesome. We stayed downtown and the downtown was clean and we walked around the pond with geese and felt safe..

Second, the neighborhoods were awesome. We loved Hampton Cove--all those walking trails and a variety of types of homes. Looked so kid friendly too! We looked at a subdivision near there--Mcmullen Cove, but there weren't many mature trees which we really like. Homes were nice but seemed pricey (?). Govenors bend was beautiful but I actually got nauseous from the height and view. Knew I was a little sensitive to heights but...I don't think my kids could ride their biikes or play in the backyard there. We tried to go into Ledges of H'ville mountain, but needed a realtor to get thru the gate. Liked the location there but not sure if it would be on cliffs like Govenor's bend...

Cliff's cove in Madison was very beautiful. Huge homes and good prices for what you get, I think. I took us a while to find the neighborhoods in Madison, so we only got to see that one and a cool small subdivision I think off Belle Ridge. This area had bigger lots but may be out of our range pricewise..

So, that's my early impression of neighborhoods there. Each one we found things we like and disliked but all of them I imagined myself in...Nice feeling.

I liked the amenties available on the south side of town. Didn't do any shopping--to the dismay of my 11 yo daughter so don't know much about that yet..

We met with a realtor who is doing underground research to feel out some buyers for our current home. So excited about the future!

Thanks to you guys who sent me helping suggestions by DM. They were awesome and I appreciate it. Depending on what side of the address listing you fall on. I may seek you out when I move and need advice about a realtor ;0

I'm glad your visit went well and I'm sorry that ya'll have been in an unfortunate situation. The Realtor we are currently using is wonderful and when you decide to start your search up I'd be more than happy to pass the name along as well as the realty company.
