What are some fun activities and places to see with-in a 1 hr. drive either way from the Huntsville area?

This time of year many small cities are having some type of fair. Eva is having frontier days and Moulton is having some type of apple festival this weekend.

Here is a list of other events
Alabama Food Festivals, Food Shows, Wine Festivals, Food Events, Expos, etc.

a little more than an hour, but worth a mention:
Desoto State Park and Little River Canyon (very nice waterfalls, beautiful gorge, Mentone arts and crafts town)
Smith Lake
Sipsey Wilderness (hiking, camping)
