New York City, baby!

It's funny that you posted this, because my husband and I have mulled over the 2 cities as well. We go to NYC every year on vacation and love, love, love it. Living there would be a dream come true for us.

BUT, we have 2 young children, family in Huntsville, and I think HSV is a beautiful smaller city. Ultimately, we picked HSV because it's probably a better place to raise our kids.

But when they're grown, I'm sure I will be revisiting the idea of moving to NYC.

If you're young and single, I say go for the Big Apple. :/

What if your kids in HSV later had kids themselves? Would you move to NYC, away from your grandkids?

I take it you don't go to watch movies that much anymore because $9 sounds about right in HSV.

The lifestyle is totally different in NYC. If you want to be healthy from walking though, Huntsville may be better because you would have to walk much further to do anything without a car. Huntsville is SPRAWL. And duh, entertainment can be more costly in NYC. That's because Huntsville doesn't have Broadway shows, only Little Theater Around the Corner. But imagine all the low cost entertainment in NYC as well.

At your age, you will make tons of friends who will just want to hang out. Walk to the many public spaces around town. Just walk through the city, stop and sit at a cafe as you watch the movement of people on the go all around you. That doesn't cost too much. Museums, cultural arts and activities, great restaurants! And if you're single, NY has plenty of singles that are looking for fun or commitment. Nightlife is always poppin in the city. You will be working, making pay, and enjoying your YOUNG life. Then when you get tired of that, you can move away. It's so simple.
