That would be an internal Boeing question and it's upto the site managers on a coordinate effort with other sites working to reatin their people. I know that B-HSV has on-going IWAs with Seattle on the 787 work, not sure about new work.
For the sake of those employees who are 'at risk' of being layoff, I sure would hope that HSV managers is working like hell to find other openings/ IWAs to place their people. But seriously, who has "extra work" in today's environment? It's not like they have been winning major contracts recently.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct.

[SIZE=2]Those of you who know people with Boeing need to remind those people that they're to use discretion when discussing anything of that nature until the Company makes the information pubic. You never know if a Boeing Big Brother is watching and reading

Someone explain this to me: I thought BRAC was as the acronym says "Base Re-Alignment And Closure", where re-alignment=relocation (transfer), closure=people lose their job and are offered the opportunity and preference to "re-align" if they wanted too. I also understand not everybody would want to move. But, still, why this "large percentage of unfilled" positions? And what kind of positions are we talking here? Highly specialized, 25+ yr direct experience, top secret clearance-type? Can 300 Continental laid-off employees get these jobs? Or am I confusing RSA DOD NASA-type jobs with army base-type jobs: from front-gate security guards, mail-clerks, cooks, to generals, and in-between?

Are you nuts? What's the point of rumor when you wait till company makes public announcement?
Boeing, or any corporations, is concern with their legal liability (getting sued) and employees welfare sometimes take a back seat.... way in the back...

Yes they can, if they're U.S. citizen who currently has security clearance and a college engineering degree.

Not everyone wants to move from DC to Huntsville, and not everyone who wants to move can due to the housing market in DC.
Thus, positions are relocated to Huntsville, but not necessarily with government workers to fill them.

To add more 'rumors', same friend said he heard Northrop Grumman would start incremental layoffs this August. Not sure the numbers right now. Anyone else hearing this rumor?
He did make similiar remarks that Boeing does not really have other Huntsville positions unless they start pushing people out of other programs.

What ever happened to "the unemployment rate for engineers with degrees is 0.2%"?
