While Obama will likely not keep the DoD budget at the levels of past Presidents, Huntsville will not see a large defense-related downturn in the next 2 years. AMC is still in the process of moving the command to Huntsville and having a 4-star presence in HSV will be a good thing for the defense contractors in the area. I have no insight into NASA, but I am pretty comfortable that the defense business will remain strong. Having said that, there are a couple of MDA programs that are under fire. Yet I still believe HSV will do fine for the next few years.

Cyber Space Command
lol Sounds like something from an old Starship Troopers movie.
Maybe it should be Cyberspace Command so that it does not sound so SCI-FI like.

Yes - even if you didn't like George Bush you would have to admit that no one thought twice about him being heckled and shouted at or downright insulted. THAT IS THE GREAT TRADITION IF YOU ARE PRESIDENT!!!! Study your history. Even our greatest president Abe Lincoln was hounded and portrayed in such awful ways. The only pres that didn't get any action was George Washington.

"This week’s announcement—calling for more flexible, sea-based missile deterrents--is a boon for the Raytheon Co. and Lockheed Martin, which have significant missile defense operations in Arizona, Arkansas and New Jersey. It is however bad news for the Boeing Co. and its congressional supporters in Alabama, where the company builds and manages its ground based missile interceptors."

more MDA layoffs
Thanks Charles for the article.
Found out last week MDA layed off approx. 100 and Boeing more to come at the end of this month. Told NG will be incremental through the end of the year. No numbers for Boeing at this time.

True, but it all really depends on what you're doing though; plenty of assignments that aren't critical... probably the majority.

I always think the worst about something so little. I'm glad that Huntsville will not suffer or fail like I thought it was. Glad to hear that Obama will keep Huntsville from turning upside down.
