We have been here a week. We were talking about going out tomorrow morning to get bagels when we realized that we haven't seen a place to get bagels (except grocery stores). When we lived in Montgomery, there was a New York Bagels that was quite good. I checked online and cannot find a New York Bagels here. I searched and found one post that mentioned Breugger Bagels but said they were closed on the weekends.

Sorry, I haven't tried any of them. Just stuck that there in case you didn't see those places. (And actually, you'd be surprised how many people don't use google before posting.) If you go, let us know how it was. I could go for a bagel myself.
Update: My wife told me the bagels at Paneras are pretty good.

Bruegger's is good for a chain. Atlanta Bread and Panera are also pretty good.

Bruegger's passes my test and the test of most other Jews I know
Even though the people who work there look at you like you have a third eye if you ask for lox. (They have it, it's just called "salmon") I'd kill for a good bagel/deli though with the cheap but good bagels you can pick up for oneg and whatnot.

Brewbaker's is not open on Sunday. A good friend, born and raised in Buffalo, said that Brewbaker's is the closest thing to a Western NY bagel. Growing up in Kentucky, a bagel was always a little dog, mottled in color, that was supposed to track rabbits, but usually wound up chasing old deer tracks!

Even though the people who work there look at you like you have a third eye if you ask for lox. (They have it, it's just called "salmon") I'd kill for a good bagel/deli though with the cheap but good bagels you can pick up for oneg and whatnot.
