Wife and I are looking to volenteer our time on Thanksgiving to serve meals and services the homeless and those in need but I can't seem to find a Mission or Shelter that is hosting this type of activity online nor do we know who to call.

Anybody know of a church mission or shelter that needs help for Thanksgiving and the holidays?

Don't be surprised if they turn you down. They're just overrun with volunteers on T-giving and Christmas. They'd probably love for you to ask to help on other dates.
Our local version, the Tennessee Valley Rescue Mission, put in their newsletter that they were declining help at the holidays because of that.

I don't mean for you to give up! Just realize that they could use your help at other times.

If you care so much, why don't you service the homeless people on other dates? I volunteered once on Thanksgiving, and I felt horrible. Dirty, mean homeless people were all over the place. The only ones I truly felt for were the children. I felt so bad for the children! It is so sad. And the homeless people we chatted up disliked us "cheerful volunteers who make themselves feel good to help out a couple of times a year." How rude! I still handed him a plate of turkey and dressing though. And I told him, "an attitude like that is exactly why you smell bad."
