Since new population data is out, does anyone now have a clue on Huntsville's 2008 population?

The Huntsville metro area saw the state's greatest population surge in 2008 and ranked 27th nationally, up 34 spots from 2007.
The metro area, which includes Limestone County, grew by 9,323 people from 2007 to 2008, a 2.4 percent increase according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released. There was also population growth across every metro area in Alabama, except Montgomery, the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs noted. Auburn-Opelika was second to Huntsville, with 1.9 percent growth.

I think its possibly Huntsville metro could surpass Mobile metro to be the second largest in the state within the next few years depending on how fast Huntsville gets is population boom from BRAC and if any counties are added the MSA in the 2010 census (for example Lincoln county, TN which more than 25% of their population commute to Huntsville to work) Possible but probably still unlikely cause Mobile will probably see some great growth in the upcoming years as well. The CSA (Combined Statistical area) could also see a big jump after 2010 if any counties are added such as Marshall.

Whatever! Huntsville is more southern than alot of cities that people call southern. When I go there, I just shake my head because alot of y'all say that Huntsville doesn't feel southern. It sho don't feel northern! When I go, I get a piece of that true southern hospitality. So you might need to rethink that. Are you hating because Huntsville is beginning to pass Montgomery in population? Be proud that a city of Huntsville's talent and ranking is going to be a leader of Alabama. That's what we need. For the record, Huntsville is southern. Trust me!

Well KE, I live in Hville and it's not southern and everyone who I met for other southern cities say the same thing. Where are the fish fry's, if you child is born here they will not have a southern accent, where are the gold grills, they do even have Alabama Power here, where are people sitting on porches, spanish moss, take a trip to Montgomery or Mobile you will see southern. For the record Hville is not leading, Birmingham and Mobile are leading. Get out of the Hville bubble.

LOL AQ&M Bull Dog is KE wow what another personality. Well anyway if Jacskon,Greene, george and washington county is added to Mobile`s CSA then it will be pushing 800 K. Mobile is the only city in the state that has only 1 county in the MSA and just 2 counties make up the CSA. I believe annexation are coming for 2010. Huntsville is southern just not as southern as Montgomery or Mobile both cities do have Spanish Moss and huge oak trees in both Mobile and Montgomery . Huntsville is different because of it`s location and the implants that it has are from northern areas.Where as in Mobile we have southern implants.

One reason why it seems that why is because Huntsville has a lot of transplants that are from all over. I forgot the website, but it said that 7/10 people or something like that that live in Huntsville are not from Huntsville. So of course, you will experience that.
On the other hand, I don't know where you be at, but where I go, I here the southern accent and see the southerness. I'm so surprised because y'all say "NUH" "NAW" about Huntsville being country. There are chitterlings in Wal-Mart, there are skins at stores, there Piggly Wigglys throughout the metro, and threr are people talking and acting southern.
And stop hating! Huntsville will lead.

OK,whatever you say KE.But people eat chitterlings everywhere Detriot,CA,Chicago, thats saying nothing. Where is Alabama Power, they use Tenneesee Valley Authority that should tell that it is not like Alabama. They might have a southern draw, but it's not a Alabama accent. The people in Huntsville are completely dicconnected from Alabama culture, if they didn't have A&M IT WOULD BE REALLY BAD.
