TVA provides power to Alabama from Cullman north. It's distributed through municipal agencies and electrical co-ops. That does not divorce North Alabama from the rest of the state.
Is there such a thing as an "Alabama accent?" It's a fairly big state with a population that's the result of different waves of migration. Alabama has a variety of Southern accents, from the softer Coastal tones to the hard Rs that came from the Scots and Irish who settled into the top part of the state. I don't think there's one definitive Alabama accent.

This is only partially true, but we are working to make it completely true. And that's the way we like it.

Mimpdaddy just will always be a lifetime hater of Huntsville. Wow are you seriously saying that Huntsville is not a great southern city cause you don't see gold grills and A&M is the best thing Huntsville has to offer thats just laughable. Maybe people in the country and ghetto see gold grills as a positve thing but the majority of white America see it as ignorance as well as most educated black people with any real sense. The lack of gold grills is definitely a good thing I see that as ignorance and I'm glad Huntsville doesn't display as much ignorance in that aspect as some of the other places in the state. Montgomery is not what I call a model example of what a city should be. I'm not against the southern accent but I am against people who barely can speak sentences and do not know how to prounounce words correctly and use slang all the time and just act ignorant for no reason. Yes Huntsville doesn't display this much as other places particularly Montgomery and the black belt but again that's a good thing and is one of the reasons Huntsville is a leader in the state economically with highly educated workforce.

Huntsville is southern just not as southern as Montgomery or Mobile both cities do have Spanish Moss and huge oak trees in both Mobile and Montgomery . Huntsville is different because of it`s location and the implants that it has are from northern areas.Where as in Mobile we have southern implants.

What percentage of residents from Jackson, Greene, George and Washington counties work in Mobile county. The threshold is 25% to be added to an MSA and according to James_HSV in 2006 MOrgan was at 24% Lincoln was at 19% and Marshall was at 17% so Morgan should become part of the MSA which would make Huntsville's MSA population around 550-600K and Lincoln is real close to being added too which isnt a big deal its just another maybe 35,000 people. The big question is will Marshall be added to the CSA which would make the CSA population around 700K. I'm not sure of the exact threshold that causes a county to be added to the MSA.. but if Morgan is added to Huntsville and no counties are added to Mobile's MSA but they have counties added to the MSA then its possible's Huntsville's MSA will be larger while the CSA will be smaller. And mimpdaddy Birmingham, Mobile and Huntsville are the main economic leaders in the state while Montgomery takes a seat back. Actually according to GDP Birmingham is far and ahead the largest economic generator in the state and Huntsville is actually second.

Huntsville_secede I know love Huntsville because you feel like it's better than the rest of Alabama. You think Huntsville is a more educated city and dont want it to be southern deep down, but that's the reason Hville sucks. It's not because of it's size, it's because it's boring.Every city in the south from ATL-HOUSTON have those same qualities I mention. A great citiy is made of of all types of people, not just educated.

Whatever mimpdaddy! I thought Huntsville was quite boring at first, but I figure at that it's not. Of course, it needs a whole lot of entertainment and amusement to fit the "entertainment" needs of people. However, that is going to change. With all the new growth, officials will most likely see that Huntsville will need more entertainment.
From what I see from the census, it seems like Mobile isn't adding people like Huntsville and Birmingham. You say that people move to Mobile because they won't to, but guess what? It's not a whole lot of people that are wanting to move there. Who knows that out of the 9,000 people that moved to the Huntsville area that 5,000 people wanted to move to Huntsville compared to the 4,000 people have to move there. So stop hating. Don't you live in Huntsville? Why are you bringing down such a nice city that basically helped you get to the point where you are today. If you don't like Huntsville so much, move to Mobile or wherever. Whether you like it or not, Huntsville will succeed and will be a dominant southern city. Better believe that.
I didn't mean to offend you if I did, but I just feel like I had to get these words off my chest.

I'm not pissed off! You're ok! Everybody isn't going to like Huntsville. In fact, everybody is not going like the city that they live; it's normal. In your case, you just happened to express the way you feel about Huntsville to a bunch of people that love Huntsville.
What don't you like about Huntsville?

Hey KE - what are the officials supposed to do to entertain the masses? Most entertainment is either a business enterprise (bars, clubs, theaters, concerts, sports) or organization's project (music/art festivals, etc.)
Personally I can't think of any entertainment types that 1) Huntsville doesn't have, and 2) can support. There is something for pretty much any taste.

But what about some entertainment to attract the youth and single women/men who want more entertainment here?
