I'm looking for some non-alcoholic places to hangout and meet other gay/lesbian people in the area. I'm not looking for any cruising spots. Are there any gay frequented restaurants, diners or coffee shops in the area? I'm not into the club scene nor looking to "hookup". Nor am I looking to join any association. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not Charles, but this one is relatively simple to google.

Click on this link and scroll down to "Huntsville"
LambdaBusiness.com - Gay Business - Alabama (All Listings) - Gay Mobile, Huntsville

Looks like there are 3 bar/restaurants that advertise to cater to gay/lesbians, and a church (which is not a bad place to meet fellow gay people, I might add).

Thanks for the input though. I checked all the web has to offer. I'm pretty in tune with business oriented websites. That's why posted here; where the real knowledge is.

Coffee Klatch (not sure it is open any longer), Furniture Factory, Humphreys, and Partners are all gay-friendly, all downtown. Most are still bars, but also a good meal and good music.

Starbucks - Memorial and University near the Home Depot...laid back and also very friendly to alternative lifestyles. This is the only mainstream spot in town where I have noticed a comfortable quantity of varying preferences all in one place on a regular basis.

Pardon me for an ignorant question.

We straight guys can learn a few things from the gay guys, at least in LA they're generally in good shape, clean cut, and dressed well. But if the Huntsville area 'shape-challenge' population is an indication, do local guy population keep better shape than the general population?

(Notice I described Starbucks as mainstream - that was my point.)
