Folk Nation Gang activity (by extension)
People and Folk Nation Sets (continued) -- Gang and Security Threat Group Awareness
Folk Nation.
Husband saw the graffiti a week or two ago on the other side of the overpass coming from Oakwood...and no-one has bothered to cover it up yet.
Now there is in addition what he reads as a White Supremacy group tagging the same area.
I'm not sure that Huntsville authorities fully appreciate what this could evolve in to...not only the property issue, but by dismissing a movement as less of a priority it will be allowed to flourish. To be idle is to grant permission.
Is this what we want for Huntsville?
Is anyone on this board in any way associated with Law Enforcement?

also remember suburban kids often tag with what they've seen or read about trying to be cool
i suppose the law would look into it if they see it

I saw something on TV but I don't remember if they were talking about H'ville or another city here. They said it wasn't gangs just kids trying to act like they were part of a gang

The Folks are a small gang, and they have been around since at least 1991 when I first heard of them as a child. It's not as big as L.A. gangs, but they do stuff like drug dealing, violence and vandalism.

google folk nation huntsville
Just curious but did you google folk nation huntsville? If not, google folk nation huntsville and go down about six sites (FYI - the first two are from city-data). I think you will be very shock at what you'll find... If you can't find the pics of a bunch of teenagers smoking and flashing signs that I'm talking about let me know.

you found it!
Gotta love myspace...
FYI, from wiki
The Folk Nation (also known as Folks) is an alliance of street gangs, based in the Chicago area, which has since spread throughout the United States, specifically in the Midwest[1] and the South.[ citation needed] They are rivals to the People Nation.
Within the Folk Nation alliance there are many gangs which all have their own unique colors, hand signs and organization. Many of these gangs have signed a charter to join the Folks alliance. It was formed on November 11 1978 in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Soon afterwards the People Nation was formed to counter the Folks alliance. Larry Hoover, the chairman of the Gangster Disciple Nation, created the idea for the alliance and persuaded many leaders of large Black, White, and Latino gangs from Chicago to join.
After a prosperous beginning in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, the alliance started to break apart in the early 1990s due to wars over money and drugs between fellow Folk gangs. After the split each leader was considered a king in his own right. Each king having loyalty to the national rules, but following only their set rules.

what about the Saints?
Or is that just a biker gang? I remember when I lived in Florence, I would go to some bars near the border and the Saints would 'take over' the place. Those were some wild times.

Those boys would get their...
That one with the butt has to be all of thirteen. Such aspirations, parents must be proud.
Anyway - WHOEVER is starting to tag the town - it needs to be covered up, monitored or it will become more than just an occasional eyesore.
If it's some suburban slackers, find 'em and fine 'em.
If it's the real deal, pay attention.
I came from an area where we had both bored but criminally inclined teens and named gangs. Welcome to South Florida. One major reason why we left.
I'm not too keen on having either/or feel so comfortable right down the street from my new location. Thank you.

33458, if this tagging was in my neighborhood, there would be many posts about how dangerous West Hunstville has become/is. I completely sympathize with you. When I lived in Five Points, some neighbors spotted six kids running with black clothes and large backpacks. They followed the kids and saw them spray painting some symbols on some buildings. They called the police and the kids were arrested. You might want to check with the North Precinct and make them aware of the activity. Officer Donnie Daly is very good in the South Precinct. I can't remember who the Community Relations officer is in the North Precinct. I bet these kids are big pretenders and their parents are to self-involved to notice their behavior.
