Maybe all the people who think it's not boring are over 30 yrs old. I'm sorry, but for a single 20 something, HSV is hella boring. I swear most of my friends in their 20s go to other places like Nashville, ATL, or even Bham for fun.
If you're in your 30s - 40s with kids, then maybe Huntsville is exciting enough since you're spending most of the time worrying about the kids. When you have kids, who needs excitement when what you really want is a couple hours to sleep in some morning. LOL.

Hey, excitement is the spice of life. Even those of us over 35 with kids need some excitement sometimes.

Going out and doing "something exciting" all the time inevitably costs money, too...
My husband and I are mid-twenties and we just love Huntsville. We think it's the right mix of not too many cars/people and still plenty to do. We've been to arena football games, baseball games, an outdoor concert, lots of new restaurants, I love to shop and have plenty of places to do so. We do look forward to raising a family SOMEDAY....but we are far from bored right now!

I am one of those who is "thinking" about moving to Huntsville from Boise, ID! But i have lived my share in different states, California being the most expensive one. If you take every city in the US it has it's PROS and CONS! I have a lot of friends who graduated from San Jose State University and moved to LA and are "young professional's". The problem with living in LA is that it takes them up to an hour- hour n half to drive 5/10 miles to work and form work! Not only that, but an apartment in a "nicer" suburb of LA can range up to $1500-$1800 for one/two bedroom plus! So with horrible traffic and being way overpriced and crowded, those are major Con's...BUTTTT the PRO side of it ... is it's LA! It's the entertainment capital- thousands of night clubs and botox-ed barbies walking around. This lifestyle is GREAT for a single person who wants to "live the life" but to be realistic - what happens when you get married and have two kids? HAVE FUN w/ THAT IN LA! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of places in California to raise a family and have fun, but you will spend enormous amounts of money.
I don't know much about Huntsville but I am sure if all of these people from all over the country are moving to it, something about is has to be very appealing. One would think that the entrepreneurs and city leaders would invest a little bit more into the entertainment side to lure in the younger crowd, which in return, in the long run would profit all of them due to the enormous growth that HSV is experiencing.
Just my two cents

Nel, I lived in California my whole life prior to moving to HSV 2 years ago - including in my 20's, and I thought the "lifestyle" in California was pretty much a waste of time and money then, too. So I don't think it's a matter of being in your 20's - I think it's a matter of being a bit decadent. It's a good thing all these bored people were born in this century.. gosh I wonder how the human race even prospered before they had nightclubs and casinos and social venues to keep them from being so bored.

It's a mid-sized city. You get what you get. You can't suddenly sprout big city scene in a city the size of Huntsville and have the businesses succeed. Your friends that go to Nashville or Birmingham for fun are traveling to cities at least twice the size of Huntsville. And a place like Los Angeles is vastly larger. It's not fair to expect Huntsville should remotely offer the same kind of scene. I'm trying to imagine someone who lives in Meridianville or somplace saying "Meridianville is boring. All my friends have to go to Huntsville if they want to have fun or shop. Why can't our leaders or entrepreneurs build a megaplex theater and a Super Target to make Meridianville more appealing?" Because it's... Meridianville! It is what it is. If living near a Super Target and megaplex movie theaters is something you would like, get out of Meridianville and live in Huntsville. If you want a hopping night scene, get out of Huntsville and go live in a bigger city. If you are annoyed by traffic and ubran sprawl get out of a bigger city and move someplace smaller. Every place has its limits.
