Zoning is a big issue...realizing that some old businesses were there before the new residential community beside it, visa-versa...really would appreciate better definition between the two. Are you commercial area or are you residential? It seems hap-hazard. That's what I note as we drive around town... I know many people prefer the convenience of a Euro-style condo community/open mall approach and in the newer areas that might be a good thing, but seems to me we'd benefit from being a bit stricter about where the 'Dollar Generals' can go. Strip malls tend to get run-down pretty quickly...especially if they were generic to start with. Make sure the mix of businesses is self-sustaining and symbiotic...one local pub/eatery for every franchised discount store, that kinda thing.

Oh, yeah! In cases such as these I use my foot, but it looks funny when people walk in, and as I get older this works less.
NAMLS should provide square footage and addresses in its database. Also, recent real estate sales data should be available.
You are not kidding. I've been looking at houses and it's a nightmare having to specially request the street address for each listing I'm interested in. "Legacy Park subdivision" doesn't tell me squat.

Personally I think Huntsville needs more walkable areas. With 2 kids and a big goofy dog, I need to live somewhere with safe, well-lit sidewalks. Not many places fit that bill. Oh, and more parks would be nice, actual parks - not just random grassy places with a bench stuck out in the middle. I'm thinking of somewhere downtown, near the interstate, I believe.

I think that Huntsville needs:
1. more entertainment
2. things that will attract the younger generation to the area
3. an amusement/water park
4. better roadways
5. to be more involved in the Black community to attract more Blacks (not trying to racist)
6. to stop annexing land and build to fill in the "rural" areas in the city limits.
7. to fix Madison Square Mall
8. to improve highway 72 like Birmingham is going to fix and improve highway 280.

What is it you are looking for? You can request a hold for an item and specify where you want to pick it up. Are you looking for something more?

Can't do that online. Only over the phone.

Looks like the policy changed. However, looks like you can't request a hold for an item currently available at any branch. You can only "keep" those items. So if I want an item on the shelf in Madison I can't route it to the main branch online. Looks like you can request a hold (and routed to a particular library) only on items that are checked out from all branches. Odd logic.
For example I can request and route:
The dragon heir 1st ed.
Chima, Cinda Williams.
No copies currently available.
but I can only "keep":
To have and to hold 1st ed.
Dower, Laura. 1 copy available at Madison Branch in Juvenile fiction
You couldn't do this three months ago. I wrote a letter to the head librarian requesting this capability be activated. She told me (she was new to Huntsville) that she was surprised this capability didn't exist here. Looks like she got it going.

I don't think so. Do it for this:
All that glitters 1st ed.
Dower, Laura. 1 copy available at Madison Branch in Juvenile fiction
