There already exists a plan for improved bikeways in Huntsville:

HEY - they fixed it...now there are two working lights for both turning lanes, one arrow and one green, fully functional AND a new sign for yielding.
(I emailed someone last week. That was fast!)

Here's a link to a map by city of Huntsville showing proposed "greeway". As you can see, there's not much of "existing" greenways.

If I could improve Huntsville, after the economy, I would build at least 5-10 towers in the 20-40 to give Huntsville that more urban look. Huntsville has a neat skyline, but it is for a city like Decatur or Hoover. Against those mountains, Huntsville's skyline looks real small. If there were some towers 20-40 stories in size, then Huntsville's skyline will look a little better against those mountains. Postcards and pictures won't be out of the question if this was to happen.

Isn't this why people don't want to build big buildings? Because of the view obstruction? There are residential neighborhoods a few blocks away.

You're right, but I saw a map in which there were different zones that could stand different stories. In the middle zone, tall building are to be built there. So if there are 20-40 storey buildings in this zone, then they will look good against the mountains.

No "towers", please. Not simply to make the city look urban and sell postcards? Why not just level the mountains and build condos? Disneyland?

I can't understand the rationale. (I'm trying...really.)

How about this - businesses build elegant, historic constructions that don't compete with the beauty of Huntsville but instead enhance it.

Well... does anyone know where I can buy some moonshine? I've been to 'the south' for almost 6 months and I have not yet taste the local moonshine. Well.. that's like going to Maine without order its lobsters!

To improve Huntsville, I think we need the local taverns to sell the local moonshines. Bottle it, label it, and sell it! It's the American way! Let's stimulate the local economy and, if there ever is a good time, the time is now!
