Isn't part of the City of Madison or part of the City of Huntsville in two counties?

I just found out that Hampton Cove has about 4500 homes. Also various people said that parts of Hampton Cove aren't in Owens Crossroads!

None of HC is in OCR. HC has the same zip code as OCR and the place name for that zip code is OCR.

The best step in deciding where to relocate for us to was coming to Huntsville for a week a few months prior to moving. By spending real time here and driving around it really changed our perspective on where we wanted to live. We then rented in the area for nearly a year before purchasing just to narrow it down. We ended up directly across from the park and walking distance to elementary school.
Hampton Cove shows well on the internet, but in person neither my wife or I cared for how cookie-cutter planned community it is. The houses are big and stacked on lots that are too small. There are exceptions, but with more yard come more money. We also didn't care for how removed it is from Huntsville. Maybe it will expand and draw in more shopping and dining, but it isn't there yet so those items are limited in short range or you have to drive back into Huntsville.
There are several good websites for school information. My wife hit that subject very hard since we have 2 young ones just entering the school system. Google is your friend. Also I think she was able to get some info here as well that helped determine school districts.

Owens Crossroads is a separate incorporated town altogether and is much more rural in character than Hampton Cove, which is more suburban. My dad lives in OCR and lives in fear of the urban sprawl from encroaching Hampton Cove subdivisions. But it's nice for property values I suppose. And I agree with the cookie cutter statement about Hampton Cove by dsb for the most part. It is certainly a very nice area and all and I certainly won't say there aren't some nice homes out there, but I have never been a big fan of typical suburban subdivisions in general. The schools zoned for HC are solid. However, one major downside to Hampton Cove (and OCR/OXR, Big Cove, New Hope, etc) is that one must cross over Monte Sano to get to Huntsville. Unfortunately the stretch of 431 over the mountain is some of the most dangerous highway around here. And Hampton Cove is zoned for Huntsville High which is an over the mountain drive for inexperienced driving teens. HHS is a very good school though, which is a plus. But I do prefer Hampton Cove to Madison. But that's just me. As always, I feel I should qualify my statements by mentioning I'm a Huntsville native, born and raised. So my perspective is usually much different than a transplant.

I think Madison wwould be a better choice. Looking at deesonic's post, I think you should consider your safety along that stretch of 431. Also, Madison is close to major employment and development. As a result, I would choose Madison.
