Lots of high end apartments here, depending on where you'd like to live. The best thing is make a weekend 'apartment-hunting trip' here (you're only 90 minutes drive away) and check out several places to see which one suits you.

By apt., I assume that means you'll rent rather than buy. In which case re-sale / investment value is irrelevant and being alone means schools, children's activities, etc are also irrelevant. Thus one might assume what is important to you will be your commute and things to do as single. If true, I suggest you start looking near your place of employment with an eye toward downtown Huntsville (5 Points is very popular) and Bridge Street.

Try searching: Apartments for Rent and Rentals – Free Apartment Finder | ApartmentGuide.com They have featured properties on the right column after you put in the area.

You may also want to try: Huntsville Apartments for rent in ALABAMA | ApartmentFinder.com
There are several rental sites you can check.

There are several new apartment complexes near Bridge Street on Old Madison Pike. Also check out the Providence area. Walden Apartments look nice as well.

I just found this apartment rating site. Walden at Providence Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other Huntsville apartments for rent from ApartmentRatings.com

Good luck with your move!

Default another one bites the dust

Being the most recent thread about Hsv economy, I post here:

Last Day Of Production For Delphi - WHNT

And the rumors about 2009 closing as speculated here 2 yrs ago
Delphi's Alabama workers expect plant to close in 2009 - Breaking News from The Huntsville Times - al.com
became true today.

What I take from this is that the (civilian) manufacturing base here in Hsv is a whole lot a-shakin'. What's left of it now? Toyota and few others in survival mode?

Rumors? Speculating?
Delphi began closing two years ago. Bankruptcy was declared in October 2005 (I know because they owe our small company money).
Delphi had just under 5,000 employees in the mid-1990s. There were only 135 left when the doors shut today.

There is manufacturing beyond Huntsville and Madison, believe it or not.
In Decatur, 3M, Daikin, Nucor, United Launch Alliance (a partnership of Boeing and Lockheed Martin), Eaton, General Electric, Wayne Farms, Del Monte Foods, Willo Products, Worthington Steel, Monarch Steel, Feralloy....I can name more, if you like.

Yes, things are slow. But they're picking up.
