Default Memphis to huntsville to atlanta and chattanooga highway

Poor KE's thread on "patriot highway" got deleted, probably because of copied & pasted copyright material

Here's a link to HUNTSVILLE AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY --- YEAR 2030 TRANSPORTATION PLAN See page 55 for the map of this 'super highway'.

To quote from the study (document not copyright material)
Quote:
MEMPHIS TO HUNTSVILLE TO ATLANTA AND CHATTANOOGA HIGHWAY

ISTEA, the precursor to TEA-21 and SAFETEA-LU legislation, included funding for certain "High Priority Corridors on the National Highway System." The purpose was to identify highway corridors of national significance; to include those corridors on the National Highway. System; to prepare long-range plans and feasibility studies for the corridors; and allow states to give priority to funding the construction of the corridors and allow increased funding for segments of the corridors that have been identified for construction.

One of these corridors is the "East-West Corridor from Memphis, Tennessee, through Huntsville, Alabama, to Atlanta, Georgia, and Chattanooga, Tennessee." Corridor studies have been ongoing for several years on the Alabama section, a final route has been selected, and portions of the project are under engineering design. Map 4.2 illustrates the final route selected.

The final route uses the existing I-565 corridor, and will connect to the proposed Southern Bypass. The highway will exit Madison County at the town of New Hope. The utilization of I-565 through Huntsville would provide immediate access from Memphis and Atlanta to the Huntsville International Airport, International Intermodal Center, major industries within Huntsville and the community as whole. Since the final route has been selected, this high priority project has been included in this update of the long range transportation plan.
On page 210, FUNDING CATEGORY: ** HIGH PRIORITY PROJECTS/NATIONAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM CORRIDOR PROJECT, looks like to estimate total funding exceeds $1.15 Billion dollars and will not be completed till year 2020.

We all know how good government projection is by now, so let's delay this completion date by at least 10 yrs.

Does anyone know how many lanes this highway will be? I hope it doesn't be 4 lanes, they need to consider 6 lanes, but 8 lanes in and around Huntsville.
