Default DirecTV local HD - WHEN?

I've asked DirecTV about local channels in HD since I've had it for the past1 1/2 years, only to get a "it's coming soon, we just don't know when " response.

I'm curious if other Madison/Huntsville Directv customers have inquired lately and if so, what response are they getting?

I've been bearing the use of bunny ears for a while now, but would love the use of my DVR to record local programing in HD.

If you have an HR20, you can hook your antenna to it and record your OTA HD. If you have an HR21 or later you can get an AM21 to hook your antenna to.

Wow I didn't know that could be done. I'll have to double check which model I have. In the mean time research "AM21".

I have talked to Dtv in the past and they said that they have to get permission from the local affiliates in order to broadcast their channels in HD. They don't have a time table as to when they will get permission either. It kind of sounds like a all or none kind of approach.

Talking Gosh, why wouldn't that be easy?

I would expect that some $$ questions are holding up that "permission".
