many states now have a law that requires you to move over for stopped emergency vehicles, if moving over by one lane is possible, to curb injury, property loss and death from distracted drivers smashing into stopped vehicles on the side of the road.
that sign just means move over for stopped emergency vehicles, but don't forget to check the other lane first and if you can't move over, slow down, becuase you ain't in NASCAR you non-driving so and so
other states have the same, but they say something like "move over for stopped vehicles when possible or slow down so more non-driving so and sos don't get in a wreck while we're stopped to give out tickets"
i'm paraphrasing, of course :P

Got it. That does make sense. Just the way it reads sounds odd.

what extension? through RSA? "Heroes Pkway" or something like that? I read the Army Base Chief opposed the project. At least for now/near future the project is on hold (although if my memory doesn't fail me it was more of a "dismiss" conversation)
In anticipation of your next questions: They've allocated the money so work can start to widen Old Madison Pike at the bridge at Indian Creek. Passed by last week, no sign of anything (not even orange cones). -And no word on widening 565 to 6 lanes yet. But there were plenty of orange barrels on US431 median in Guntersville-Albertville-Boaz last week.

That's lame...an extension thru or over the Arsenal would make things much easier.

If an extension through RSA doesn't fall, a good alternative would probably be through extreme northern Morgan County below the proposed extension, right?

I'm not complaining. I just think it's stupid that this idea is still being rejected.

I think the bottom line is the commander made the decision that it would be a security risk to build a public road through the Redstone Arsenal. Unless there are political powers to change his mind, that's the way it is going to be. I guess another idea is to build a road that meets the Arsenal's security requirements but that would probably be too expensive. It's a trade off.
