Information on Huntsville's Roads
Today, Huntsville seems to be working on and building new roads to relieve traffic and to accomodate the new growth to the area. Such projects include new overpasses for Memorial Parkway and new bypasses. Does anybody have any information on road construction projects in and around Huntsville?

I don't think there are too many that are that noteworthy as when something, even a half mile widening of Madison Pike, is announced, the press makes a pretty bid deal. Didn't someone post a list of construction projects expected in a few years, or some link to a Alabama Dept of Trans or something like that?

To the many people who travel Old Madison Pike to Research Park every day, it IS noteworthy. Widening Madison Pike has been something that people have wanted and needed for years, and will tremendously help the flow in the morning/afternoon commute. Old Madison Pike is a direct path from the city of Madison to Research Park, as well as the Arsenal, and Bridge Street. Again, this is something that has been on the table and wanted for quite a while.
Don't forget, there are 40,000+ residents of Madison, plus the influx of growth in the E Limestone area that can take Browns Ferry directly to Research Park/Arsenal/Bridgestreet.
The main news from that conference was the ramp project at County Line Road and 565. Again, something that has been ongoing for many years. The money had be "allocated", but hopefully now the governor and our two terrific new mayors will get this project going. It is MUCH needed. It will greatly reduce the congestion at Wall Triana and 565 (which is a nightmare in the mornings). That also should encourage retail and commercial growth along the County Line area (I know Waterstone was put on hold until this project got underway).
Again, at least the 40,000+ Madison residents feel that way

Yes, that's true. I've been stuck on MP heading east around 730AM (heading from Dublin Park pool to Research Park). Pretty nasty with the school zone, the condo construction, and two sides of Slaughter feeding east all bunching things up.

Will I-565 be widened to 6 or more from I-65 to the point where the lanes increase?

Does it need to be? Is it bad there?

It's not that bad. I think that it surely needs to be considered, considering the fact that Huntsville is growing and will continue to grow at a rapid pace.
