I sucks that 938 have to overlay 256. Won't that be confusing!

When did they start merging 2 area codes within the same area? They use to take one area and change the area code for the whole area.

That is gonna be a PITA.. I have a hard enough time remembering who has what area code now.

With BRAC coming we are going to need at least 3 more area codes for the area and that mega-mall Miami style nightlife you've wanted will finally be here too.

I was trying to be good and dialing all 10 numbers early...but in these last days, I'm defiantly dialing just 7 numbers. Up the phone company!

Down here in Tuscaloosa, you have so many people with cell phones area codes from different parts of the state and different states altogether that you get used to thinking of phone numbers in 10 digits. I'm sure the same will happen in Huntsville/North Alabama.

MD has been doing 10 digit dialing statewide since 1996, Atlanta since 1998. It's not a big deal and makes a lot more sense than making half the population change numbers. Especially with the advent of cell phones, it's easy to just program in the 10 digits and be done.

I agree,. We did it in Atlanta and it really is no big deal. With cell phones everyone is use to dialing all the numbers anyway.

10 digit dialing will be the nationwide standard in the near future anyway.
