I just don't think an "average" at best cut/color job in Huntsville with some local beauty school grads is worth essentially $50-$60+ an hour for service. I never feel good about having paid that kind of money as I'm leaving the salon.
Some of these blogs are so shocking to me, although Huntsvilles/Madisons pricing is a shock also for upscale salons! and when I say this I am on the other end of your thoughts, because for a town that is the best off in the U.S. for economic growth and wealth, some of you people put a momentary value on what a good/exellent stylist should charge!!!!! What u do not realize is that only "part of that charge" is actually going to them and "They work damn hard to EARN there expert skill and craft just to MAKE SOMEONE like you FEEL and LOOK better about themselves. You have know idea the money they put in for education and time away from their families in order to make people feel and look the best to that clients full potential from the borders and barriers that they give the stylist!!!!!
This area has so much wealth and is proud of it but to the people who keep up some part of that image you put a price on.......I am a stylist! and if I could, I would love to work for a salon that would allow me to spend 2 hours on a haircut, because I have learned over the years that it "is who I am" and what beauty and art can there be a price on? I love my career and am blessed that I am in a industry that makes me proud. People are in jobs for money value and they are never truely happy every day they go to work. Please have respect for yourself and those who try their best to make you feel good, and if pricing is a issue for some others then please tell your stylist because I know that they will work with you on what you can afford and if they do not, then maybe you do need to look elsewhere for "the one" that can give you what you want and need.
We are what we are to be vessels to others! That is why I do what I do....

To update the thread, I went to a girl, recommended to me by a friend, that worked in the Dillard's salon. She is now at Dantera and unless I'm back in Tuscaloosa for any reason, is who I will continue to go to up here. I've been very pleased with her and would recommend her to others, especially in situations like myself who was a transplant to the area starting over again.
