Default Hobbs Road area

Hi, I have lived in Huntsville (Zierdt Road) in an apartment for about 6 months with my wife. We are now looking at buying a house and were considering a couple of neighborhoods on Hobbs Road (between Memorial Parkway and the Arsenal).

I work on the arsenal and my wife works at the Surgery Center in the Medical district. We know that the schools are challenger and grissom and are happy with those, but is there anything we should be aware of in that area?

Thanks!

Traffic at rush hour is hellish (may get better once overpasses are built). That shouldn't affect you since you work on the arsenal, but your wife may have issues (depending on what time she goes to/leaves work.) Any other time besides rush hour the traffic is ok.

My parents live over there (English Village) and the only real complaint they have is that it's kinda far away from things (food/shopping). Overall they are happy though. The mall on S Parkway/Drake is fairly convenient (probably 10-15 minutes), Walmart right there, so groceries are taken care of. There is a lack of restaurants nearby though.

Also, check to see if the area is in a flood plane--I know some of English Village is.

Thanks for the reply!
I know about the flood plain and we are not in it. As far as restaurants go, we rarely go out to eat, and when we do a 15-20 minute drive is not so bad.
Most everything in Huntsville can be gotten to in about 20 minutes.

Rush hour traffic - true it's horrible on the Parkway, but from Hobbs you can go up Bailey Cove and there is little or no traffic as long as you avoid the Grissom morning rush.

I think it's a nice area, and the Redstone Rd gate has virtually no waiting time, ever.
