It isn't particularly original. I've heard Nashville called Nashvegas. I used to living in Lexington, KY, I heard people call it Lexvegas. I think it is a just a sarcastic way of poking fun at the fact that Huntsville is obviously not Las Vegas.

Chuck Wagon is the best BBQ in town. If you like Texas style. Not open on Sunday though... (least not the last I checked).
Dreamland's ribs are really hit or miss for me. Sometimes they're fat and juicy, sometimes they're dry and tough. I guess it depends on who cooks them? Open on Sunday.
Gibsons (on S. Parkway, north of Airport, on the northbound side) is yummy, and they have the best white sauce (except for homemade!). Open on Sunday until 2pm, they serve breakfast till 11:30, but start serving lunch at 10:30(?) I think. They have BBQ and other southern favorites. Their pie is de-lish.

My family also likes Gibson's on South Pkwy. Their coconut creme pie is wonderful, so is the chocolate. They also have a large assortment of vegetables. I agree Dreamland ribs may or may not be good and they have no choice of side dishes. At Gibson's I like the bar-b-que baked potatoe.

I don't believe they are open at all any more, if you are referring to the place on Madison Blvd just west of Wall Triana. We were by there several weeks ago and they appeared to no longer be in business.

Could be that he just moved. He did that to me when he was out in Athens a few years ago. Took me forever to find him. His beef brisket is good, but cut too thin. His slicing is a lot like the Bill Miller chain in Texas, but he comes from West Texas and I don't think Bill Miller is out in that area. His sauce is decent, but he moved away from the Texas style beans and sides to Alabama style sides. Might have been necessary for the area, but I sure was dissapointed not to have pintos and mustard potatoe salad.
There is another little joint on Madison Rd near Sullivan (old Wall Triana) that also serves beef brisket. I can't recall the name, but it is easy to find on the north side of the street near that intersection. You have to ask for the brisket sliced or they will serve it pulled like the pork.
Now for local style bbq, only Big Bob Gibsons in Decatur is top dawg. There are other spots that are good, but only Big Bob is king. Doubt me? Go sample for yourself.
