Ok what's some of the best bbq places in Huntsville/Decatur area period how would you rate the best ones? Some of my friends complain that Dreamland in Huntsville does not taste like the one in Tuscaloosa.

I'd stay away from all the Dreamlands EXCEPT the original in Tuscaloosa. Including the one in Northport.

It used to be that Perrin's in Decatur was the best (of course, this is my opinion. Then they changed hands and I quit going and I am not sure they are even open anymore! My favorite now is Lawler's in Athens, and Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur, but BBG is uneven in taste. When they are at their best, they are better than Lawlers, but there are times that they aren't nearly as good.

> I have to admit I don't like the dry ribs, I wasn't raised that way...my mom would use ketchup as BBQ sauce.... I hope my taste buds have learned something since then.

The old Greenbrier on Old Hwy 20 and Greenbrier Rd is open on Sundays.

My BBQ favorites in the area are Thomas Pit (ribs) and the old Greenbrier (pulled pork and hushpuppies).

bb perrin's is still there. Sometimes they're very good; sometimes just OK. They are not open on Sunday, but are back to being open for supper. Rib gumbo....mmmm...except they don't give you bread with it anymore.

You have to go to Memphis to get good ribs. I prefer the dry!

Yep, both old AND new Greenbriar are open on Sunday. Although hush puppies go with catfish, not 'que. And those Greenbriar hush puppies are totally lame compared to McCollom's.
